Mrs. Ruth Earlean Rucker Brewer was born on April 25, 1934, in Pennsylvania to the late Richard and Lula Mae Rucker and was one of eight children.
Ruth, known as “Chi-Chi” by family and friends, was saved at an early age and was a member of the Church of God in Christ where her mother was a missionary. She spent many years in Portland, Tennessee, where she met and married the love of her life, Mr. McDonald Brewer, at the age of 13. To this union, two sons were born, Reginald and Walter Steven Brewer.
Chi-Chi and Donals later made Indianapolis their home and would later join Phillips Temple CME Church where she served as a steward for over 60 years.
She was a faithful member, loved to have church, and would still praise God in her short illness. Before retirement, she worked many years as a domestic worker.
Chi-Chi loved to bowl, read, and do crossword puzzles in her spare time. She was a mother and grandmother to many. She had a heart for her grands and whenever you saw her, nine times out of ten she had her twins with her, Sharae and Shacare, whom she was crazy about. “Insider” LOL.
She departed this life on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the age of 90 years old.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. McDonald Brewer; mother, Lula Mae Rucker; father, Richard Rucker; son, Reginald Brewer; sisters, Florence, Lucy, Laura “Maxine,” Rose, and Hazel; grandsons, Will Allen Smith III and Kevin Brewer; and granddaughter, Shacare Terry.
Surviving her are her sons, Walter Steven Brewer; brothers, Richard Jr. and George; brother-in-law, Harold (Diane); granddaughters, Tammy, Nina, Nicole, Shanell, Sharae, Paula, Aynio, and Erika; grandsons, Chris, Erick, and Paul; and a host of great-great-grandkids, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, friends and church family.
