Obituary For Louis Charles Rose

“From Texas with Love”

Mr. Louis Charles Rose was born on October 17, 1949, in Cogdell Memorial Hospital in Snyder, Texas. His parents, Mr. Sylvester and Mrs. Opal Rose instilled the values of family and hard work in him at an early age. To their union, Louis and five sisters were born. Louis took the big brother role seriously and was passionate when it came to the wellbeing of his sisters and family. Louis was educated in Loraine, Texas. He attended the schools in Mitchell County. He was an excellent football player for the Loraine Bulldogs and was offered several scholarships. He declined them for other ventures. He professed hope in Christ at 10 years old and was baptized at Canaan Baptist Church where he remained a member until he relocated. Louis moved to Indianapolis, Indiana on August 16, 1978, where he united with Christ Missionary Baptist Church. While there, he was a proud usher, played on the softball team and participated in Baptist Men where he would cook for their annual Fish Fry and B.B.Q. Louis made a host of friends but had his eye on something else. He formally met, courted and then later married Deborah in December of 1989. Later, they joined Olivet Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee. They were active members at O.M.B.C. Louis was a servant and enjoyed doing the things he mastered. He excelled at cleaning carpet and assisting others as they moved in new directions. The skill he was best known for was cooking on the grill. Honey, Louis could make the best beef brisket on this side of the Texas border! Most importantly, Louis was there for whatever you needed whenever you needed him. Louis worked professionally in many arenas. He worked in H.V.A.C. and at a foundry. The industry that he enjoyed the most, which proved to be his calling, was mortuary service. Louis worked at several local funeral homes and mortuaries over the years. His roles included cleaning, assisting morticians, picking up the deceased, driving families, handling flowers and providing comfort to those in their time of need. In addition to serving others, Louis enjoyed spending time with his family. He spent time laughing with his children, grandchildren, godchildren and friends. He spoiled those that he loved! It was not uncommon for him to show up with Long’s Donuts and Starbucks. He would watch basketball with his wife and loudly cheer for all of the teams from Texas. Louis truly enjoyed living life to the fullest. Louis is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Rose, his parents, Opal and Sylvester Rose and his daughter, Tonya. He is survived by four aunts: Annie Bell Samuels, Ozzie McPeters, Dorothy Jackson and Lillie Wideman. He also leaves his loving sisters: Brenda Hill, Emma Miller, Flora Amir, Joffelyn Partlow (Kenneth) and Lessie Anderson. His children, Louis Rose Jr., Mary Louise Shields (Mark), Roxanne Sims (Dwayne), Sabrena Tichenor (Terrell), De Meita Vincent (Jonathan) and Delbert White Jr. are left to cherish his memory. In addition, Louis leaves eleven nieces and nephews, twelve grandchildren, sixteen great nieces and nephews, a host of cousins, many friends and 4 special Godchildren: Demetria “MeChee” Bell, Louis, Caleb, and Ryan.

Although he will be greatly missed, Louis would not want us to cry, but would want us to rejoice, for his soul is free. Louis would always say, “God is.” This phrase reminds us that God is in control of all situations and is always in our midst. Our dear father, brother, nephew, uncle, godfather, coworker and friend is no longer physically here, but his spirit and joy for life will always remain with us.
