Mrs. Gloria Jean Bacon, 82, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 10, 2023, she was born
on the west side of Indianapolis, IN, to Mr. Richard Hutchison and Mrs. Margaret Bender Hutchison. Gloria was one of five children. She attended Public School #4 for grades K-6, Crispus Attucks Jr. High #17 for grades 7-8 and graduated from Crispus Attucks High school in 1958. She pursued her passion for nursing, earning a bachelor's degree from Indiana University in Indianapolis. Gloria's dedication to the healthcare field spanned nearly five decades, culminating in her role as Head Nurse of the Regenstrief Clinic at IU Medical Center. She also made significant contributions at Veterans Hospital and various
surgery centers In Indianapolis. In 1980, Gloria transitioned into the insurance healthcare sector, lending her expertise as a medical consultant at different companies. She found her professional home at American Family Insurance, where she served as a medical claim adjuster until her well-deserved retirement in 2008. Even in retirement,
Gloria continued to share her nursing skills part-time at a local nursing home. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Gloria was an avid enthusiast of old movies, TV shows, and computer games, and she indulged in lively games of bingo at one of the local parlors in the city. She had
a keen ear for music and an adventurous spirit that led her to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of casinos. Her love for exploration took her on unforgettable journeys to New York and California to visit family and friends. Her true joy, however, lay in the weekly Bible studies held at her home for over fifteen years,
where her love for Christ truly blossomed. Gloria was a woman of deep love and affection for her family members and cherished friends. Her fond recollections of shared moments and experiences from the past were a testament to her enduring connection to those she held dear. Gloria's memory will be treasured by: devoted husband of forty- four years, Leander Bacon; older sibling, Laura Williams of Syracuse, NY; cherished children, Anthony Crayton and Donna Bates (Michael), as well as stepchildren, Kevin Bacon and Kimberly Bacon; and a
host of numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
