Deacon Gerald Lee Terry, Sr., quickly slipped away to be with the Lord on October 29, 2022, at the age of 83 years. He fought a valiant fight with many health challenges for many years. He never complained and inspire those that were around him with his courage and bravery until He went home to be with the Lord. Affectionately known by his loved ones as "Bummie," was born on January 25, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was raised by loving mother, Alyce Gertrude Terry-Winston; his grandfather, William Andrew Terry; and his grandmother, Bertha Lee,. Gerald was given the nickname "Bummie" by his grandmother, Bertha Lee, because he was born on the The Brown Bomber" Louis won the heavyweight boxing title. As a child "Bummie spent time in Abilene with his grandparents, William Andrew and Bertha Lee. Shortly Crispus Attucks High School, Gerald entered the Navy Academy in 1956 as a Seaman General. d his country well in the Naval Academy and was honorably discharged from the Armed Forces of the United ica in 1962 after serving an additional two years in the Navy Reserves. During his time in the United States led by ship to e ›ver forty countries, the likes of China, Italy, and Spatn, just to name a few. Gettw nited in holy matrimony to Etta Marie (Covington) Terry on September 16, 1961. Gerald and Etta were one another by Donald "Duck" Toler on a blind date in 1960. Their union was blessed with four children, Seild " one to be with his heavenly Bathcerome W. Tery. Gerald and Etta were marted for stily. one ears before oned to be with his Heavenly Father. Gerab Vistor working for General Motors at Allison Transmissions in December of 1961. During his time with General d received several promotions and accolades. Gerald worked at Allision Transmissions for over thirty years before in June of 1992. "Bummie" professed a life in Christ at an early age, where he attended and was baptized at Christ Missionary Baptist classe from hrist under the pastorship of Elder Claude Strayhorn, Jr. ime at The Church of the Living God and The Saints of Christ, Gerald was called to the ministry and began to con. As a deacon, Gerald did not waver and was steadfast in the faith and never looked back. He taught Bible urday preached when needed, cooked, cleaned, and was responsible for the transportation of the saints to and til his health began to decline. Gerald w s an excellent provider who raised his children and always wanted the best for his family. "Bummie" was always the life of the party, and the party did not start until he walked in. He had a beautiful smile and loved to laugh and was a joy to be around. Gerald loved his wife and children and was a strong anchor for his family. He was a wonderful son who made sure his mother was well taken care of. He did not miss a day going by to check on her and to make sue-the everything she needed before her transition to be with the Lord in May of 2020. sports and was a huge fan of his hometown teams such as The Indiana Pacers and The Indianapolis Colts. to cook and one of his favorite things to do was to barbecue on holidays.
