Obituary For Celeste Hunt

Celesta Evans Hunt, affectionately known as “Celeste,” was born on March 27, 1945, to A. Q. and Myrtle B. Evans in Newton, Mississippi. She was eldest of seven children. Celeste attended School #56 in Indianapolis, Indiana, throughout her elementary years and graduated from Arsenal Technical High in 1963 where she earned her high school diploma. She later continued her education at University of Indianapolis School of Business, where she studied Business Administration. She married William “Bill” Henry Hunt in 1968, and they were blessed with three beautiful children, Tamara Darnell, Kimberly Nicole, and Aaron Quinn.
Celeste professed her love for the Lord at a young age and was baptized at Eastern Star. She attended Grace Memorial in her younger years and Bethany Missionary Baptist Church where she was a key member of the usher board, serving as the Chief Usher. She was head of the Black History committee, where she spent countless hours organizing an annual Black History program that was both fun and informative. Celeste later rejoined Grace Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in 2009, where she served on the usher board and continued to deliver the Black History service. She was a beloved member at Grace MBC, until she went on with the Lord.
Celeste was a smart woman and held many notable positions. She was employed by Indiana Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). She was later presented with an opportunity at the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), serving 15 years as their Freedom of Information Officer (FOIA Officer). Celeste was able to explore many places and meet and network with people all over the United States during her time working for OSHA. She retired from her position as
In addition to her daily roles, her ambition did not stop there. She took enjoyment in politics, debates, and public speaking. Celeste was a dedicated member of Women’s Heart Association of Washinton, D.C., where she served on the Board of Directors. Celeste attended and spoke at numerous seminars, she passionately educated and inspired women to live a healthier life by telling her own story. She also created her own travel agency “Traveling with Celeste,” organizing and booking Travel and Cruise packages for others. Celeste was a Black historian, as mentioned. She zealously dedicated her time speaking at Lawrence Township schools and organizing church programs honoring black
history month.
Celesta Evans Hunt was welcomed to the Kingdom of Heaven April 30, 2024, to join her loved ones: her daughter, Kimberly N. Hunt; grandchildren, Darien D. Rowell and Tira A. Hunt; parents, A. Q. and Myrtle Evans; and siblings, Austin J. Evans and Linda M.
Celesta leaves to cherish her precious memories: her children, Tamara D. Hunt and Aaron Q. Hunt; grandchildren, Celesta “Tierra” Hunt, Whitney J. Hunt, Keshawn A. Jackson, Dylan T. Rowell, Gracelyn A, Hunt, and Aamina B. Hunt; great- grandchildren, Markell J., Tyree L., Rameir J. D., and Royaltee S.; siblings, Erma Jean White, Barbra A. (Lathaniel) Harrell, Rose M. Linthecome, and Pastor Ronnie L. (Pamela) Evans; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends who loved her dearly.
