CARRIE SPURLIN RANSOM w a s b o r n N o v e m b e r 19, 1924 in Lexington, Mississippi. She was the 2nd of 9 children born to the late Henrva n d Mattie Anderson Spurlin.
CarrIE professed her hope in Christ at an early age. She also graduated from Ambrose High School while in Lexington.
CarrIE was raised on the family farm in Lexington, MS. Her chores around the home were to help her grandmother watch her siblings and combh e r 5 sisters' hair.
In 1945 Carrie moved to Indianapolis, IN to live with Uncle Louis and Aunt Almeda Randall. He was the Pastor of Church of
Christ Holiness and was in the process of buildingthe church.
CARRIE married Andrew Ransom on July 29th, 1950, and to this union 4 children were born. Carrie made sure her children knewthe Lord.
CARRIE loved to cook and feed people whenever they came in town. She always had a big spread for Easter and Thanksgiving hoping to have all her family at the table.
CARRIE will beremembered for her "famous" sweet potato pie, ice box pie, hummingbird cake, lemon cake, and German chocolate cake to name a few.
CARRIE SPURLIN RANSOM departed this life on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at 10:25 p.m.
CARRIE was preceded in death by her husband Andrew, 2 sons,
Gerald and Derrick, 1 grandchild, Renita, 3 sisters, Mary,
Willierean and Maggie and 3brothers, William, Dave and Leon.
CARRIE leaves to cherish her memories son Jerome, daughter
Denise Strickling, both of Indianapolis, stepson William (Joyce) of Clarksville, TN, 2 sisters Millie Moore of Charlotte, N.C. and
Martha Johnson of Detroit, 7 grandchildren Tyrone, Kenya,
Derrick Jr., Darryll, Deirda, and Sharese, 15 great grandchil-
dren, 6 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces and
nephews.
