Mr. Tommy Cecil Blackmon, Jr., 59 years old of Lafayette passed away peacefully at Piedmont Midtown in Columbus on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024. He was born on November 14th, 1964 in Lafayette, Alabama. Tommy was a graduate of Milltown Chambers County High School. He was a Navy veteran, having served as a helicopter air crewman. After his military service, he was a construction surveyor for most of his career. Tommy loved life, animals, traveling, experiencing new things and his mother’s cornbread.
He was saved at Bay Springs Baptist Church where he attended with his mother.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Tommy Cecil Blackmon, Sr. (Faye).
He is survived by his wife Diane Blackmon, mother Shirley Jane Brasher (Alvin), brothers Walter Blackmon (Laura), Tim Brasher (Carla), sister Mitzi Matzke (David). He is also survived by six nephews, Jacob Irizarry, Josh Pouncey, Tyler Brasher, Dillon Brasher, Alex Matzke and Austin Matzke and three nieces Brooklyn Garcia, Victoria Blackmon, and Haley Pouncey. He also leaves behind his cherished dog and companion, Peabody.
Interment will be at Shiloh Baptist Church located at 6200 Chambers County RD 053 Lafayette 36862 (Penton area) on Friday, April 19th at 1:00 CST with Reverend Chuck Goodwin officiating.
