Charlene J. Lacy, better known as "Grams," passed on April 25th, 2024 peacefully with loved ones by her side.
Born in Jacksonville, Florida on June 22, 1940 to Charlie and Louise Johnson.
Working as a paralegal for over 25 years, she lived to serve others. Her biggest influence had always been in the lives of children. In her early years, she worked for Volunteers for the Court that allowed her to defend and protect at-risk teens and then after retiring worked for CASA, in which she was able to help children find safe and secure homes.
She was best known for her resilience, strength, wit, blunt honesty, and endless wisdom. She always put her family first, specifically her grandchildren. She was always there with a listening ear and honest opinion. She has been, and always will be, the pillar of strength in the Lacy family.
She is survived by her children, Lauri Lacy Blaine, Cathi (William) Book, David Alan (Melanie) Lacy; her brother Larry (Bonnie) Johnson; her son in law Charley Book; her grandchildren Jonathan(Alyssa) Book, Hannah Gravitt, McKenna (Jesse) Lord, and Ashlyn Lacy; and her great grandchildren, Macy Grae Book and Jasper Lord.
She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Lousie Johnson, her youngest daughter Robin Book, and oldest grandson Jacob Book.
Celebration of life will be at a later date, due to her last wish being that she be sent off with a bang, literally, in the form of fireworks with her daughter and grandson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any school or educational foundation to continue her legacy of helping children.
The staff of Central Cremation Services is honored to be selected to provide end-of-life services.
