Carter Funeral Home announces the peaceful transition of Mr. Richard T. Warren (96), of Banks, Alabama.
Mr. Warren, a WW II, U.S. Army Veteran transitioned into eternity during the early morning hours of May 25, 2023, in Alexander City, AL.
Richard Thomas Warren was born to the late Lille Mae and Ernest Warren, he was the sixth child. Richard was born July 4, 1926, in Inverness, Alabama.
After completing his schooling Richard enlisted in the US Army, then moved to Birmingham Alabama where he worked in the coal mine. In 1966 he headed west to San Francisco, California where he worked and retired from Standard Oil of California. Richard returned to Alabama moving into the family home in 1989. He reunited with Mt Calvary Baptist Church, in Banks Alabama. Richard served as a faithful member and usher.
Richard lived an exuberant life, he was an avid baseball fan, he loved to cook and hunt. Anytime, day or night you could find him sitting on his back porch listening to music and enjoying the fresh air with his cat, Mae Anna.
Richard was married to Annie G. Lane in 1948, to this union was born two boys.
Richard, transitioned from labor to reward on May 25, 2023 at Russel Medical in Alexander City. He was preceded in death by his siblings, John D. Warren, Lanny A. Warren, Gonner L. Warren, Essie B. Harris, Lillie Lee Blunt, Anna L. Christian, Mary Ester Thomas, Legenia Mason, Margaret R. Walker, Vernetta Warren, and Virginia Warren.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his children, Royal Cargile (Julia) Tuscaloosa, AL; Annie Jean Ware (William) Birmingham, AL, Leotis Warren (Callen) Fort Wayne, IN, Willie Warren (Marilyn) Hercules, CA, thirteen grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren, two sisters, Ernestine Johnson, CA, Alvesta Warren, NY, one brother Raymond Warren (Betty) NY, lifelong friend Mrs. Mattie L. Rogers and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and his church family.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation on Friday, June 2, 2023, from 2 00 pm to 5 00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Final Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 11 00 am. from the sanctuary of the Mt.Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
The eulogy will be delivered by the pastor Rev. H. J. Fowler.
Interment with military honors will follow in the Mt.Calvary Baptist Cemetery.
In accordance with COVID sensitive precautions, all attendees are encouraged to utilize appropriate facial coverings and to practice social distancing.
