Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr. Anthony Vaughn (38), of Midway, Alabama.
Known and loved by many as “D.J. No Legs”, Mr. Vaughn passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023, at his residence.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, May 26, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Life Celebration will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 11:00 am from the sanctuary of the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Louisville, AL.
The eulogy will be delivered by his uncle, Pastor H. R. Johnson of the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Newville, AL.
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
Anthony Vaughn aka “DJ Nubbs”/ “DJ Noleggs”, 38, of Midway, AL
peacefully passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023, while being
surrounded by loved ones. “Ant” as he was affectionately known
accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of New Bethel
Baptist Church of Louisville, Alabama.
Anthony was born on January 3,1985 in Eufaula, AL to Seretha
Griffin Manuel and Alex Vaughn. He attended Barbour County
High School and later worked several years with his stepfather
at Manuel Construction in Midway, AL. Anthony loved fishing,
listening to, and playing music, hanging out with family and
friends, especially nieces and nephews, and riding the 4-wheeler.
Anthony was proceeded in death by his maternal grandmother,
Mary Lee Griffin, paternal grandmother, Ozie Walton, stepfather,
Willie “Bubba” Manuel, and brother, Willie Person.
He is survived by his loving and devoted mother, Seretha Griffin
Manuel, and father, Alex Vaughn; three sisters, Alison Vaughn
(Union Springs), Kellie Jones (Harrisburg, PA), and Kandaci
Person (Union Springs); two brothers, Justin Vaughn and Adam J.
Manuel (Midway); eight aunts, Mary J. Griffin (Troy, AL), Katherine
McClendon (Clio, AL), Mary J. Warren (Clio, AL), Patricia Bostic
(Riverdale, GA), Nealie Boykins (Louisville, AL), Alice Wilder
(Montgomery, AL), Theresa (Sterling) Jones (Fayetteville, GA),
Elaine (Rev. Joe) Glover (Clayton, AL); ten uncles, J.D. (Mammie)
Johnson (Montgomery, AL), Rev. Henry R. Johnson, Fred (Mary Ann)
Johnson, John Glanton, Robert Walton (Louisville, AL), Roosevelt
(Heather) Milton (Troy, AL), Jerry (Annie) Milton (Abbeville, AL),
and Charlie Mack (Doris) Milton (Ariton, AL), and Terry (Lula
Merie) Thornton (Louisville, AL), and Huey D. (Parichart) Thornton,
Jr. (Montgomery, AL) He also leaves behind a host of cherished
nieces and nephews that served as his godchildren: Tray, James,
Jamez, Jor’Dyn, Kenidee, Jana, Justin Jr., Ji’Mani, Jordan, and
Kamryn; as well as a host of cousins and friends
