LaGena Fleming Powe, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, entered eternal rest on April 30, 2025. Born on August 2, 1961, to the late Wash “Bo” Fleming and Dorothy Elizabeth McNally Fleming, LaGena was a woman of deep faith, boundless love, and quiet strength who dedicated her life to family, service, and community.

A native daughter rooted in purpose, LaGena lived with a servant’s heart. Her life reflected unwavering devotion—to her craft as a Cosmetologist, her church family, her community, and most importantly, to the people she loved. Her warmth, wisdom, and strength touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on everyone blessed to know her.

LaGena was a gifted and passionate Cosmetologist whose chair was more than a place of beauty—it was a sanctuary of comfort, laughter, and love. For decades, she served her clients not only with skilled hands but also with a listening ear and an open heart. Her clients were like family, and they cherished the care, kindness, and excellence she brought to every appointment. Her presence in their lives was both personal and profound.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lille Mae Ware and Converse McNally Sr., Wash Sr. and Lucille Fleming; her parents, Wash “Bo” Fleming and Dorothy Elizabeth McNally Fleming; and her brothers, Rudolph McNally and Tyrone Fleming.

LaGena leaves behind a loving legacy and a family who will forever cherish her memory: her devoted husband of 34 years, Stephen D. Powe; two beloved sons, Stephen D. Powe II and Walsh Denton (Tiraney) Powe; and two treasured grandsons, Walsh Denton Powe II and Roderick I. Powe. She is also survived by her sister, Tonya V. Fleming (Catherina) James and a host of nieces and nephews who were like children to her: Terrell (Roxie) Bergamy, Jennifer White, Christopher (Latasha) Fleming, Tiffany LeShawn (Carlos) McNally- Peoples, Shanita Wilburn, Yolonda Nicole (Paul) Childs, and Ashlee E. James; three sisters-in-laws Ann Powe, Jeanette Powe, and Stephanie (James) Lock. Three brothers-in-laws James (Mary K), Calvin (Mary A), and Terry (Susan) Powe. A host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Her nurturing soul embraced many, creating lifelong bonds and memories with those she called family by love, not just lineage. She was especially blessed by the lifelong friendship of her best friends, Elaine Jefferies and Wanda Robinson.

LaGena was a faithful member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Spartanburg, SC and an active member in the South Carolina State Cosmetologist Association- Spartanburg Region 12. Her life was a testament to faith, family, excellence, and generosity. She served her community not just with her hands, but with her heart.

Though LaGena has taken her rest, her light continues to shine through the lives she uplifted. Her legacy of love, strength, and service will forever be remembered.
