Charles Ronald Taylor

06/29/1933 - 04/18/2024

Charles Ronald Taylor, affectionately known as “Dad,” was born on June 29, 1933, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the fifth of six children born to the union of Albert Taylor and Margaret (Barlow) Taylor.
Charles received his education in the Indianapolis Public Schools system, having graduated from Crispus Attucks High School, where he also played football. In 1953, he enlisted in the United States Army and was subsequently honorably discharged.
In December 1952, Charles united in Holy matrimony to Beulah (Hornbeak) Taylor. In 2023, they celebrated 71 years of marriage. To their union, two daughters were born.
For over 30 years, Charles was a dedicated employee and supervisor at Stark, Wetzel and Company, as well as at Transcon. Upon his retirement, he established a second career as a truck driver at Merrico/Royal Food Products, Incorporated, followed by being a bus driver for the Indiana Housing Authority.
As a young husband and father, Charles accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was the chairman of the Steward Board at Stewart Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church for over 30 years, and loved serving his church. Charles was a faithful and committed man of God, who instilled in his children and grandchildren the importance of trusting and depending on the Lord.
Charles enjoyed dog sitting his “boys,” Prince and Peris, barbecuing, gardening, bowling, storytelling, watching sports, and judge television shows. He was known for his chocolate cake and “famous chili” which he served at his annual Super Bowl party surrounded by family and friends. He loved his family, extended family, and was well respected by all who came into contact with him. Charles especially loved his wife, and in the mornings, when she walked into the room where he was sitting, his face would light up and he lovingly and enthusiastically would say, “Hey Boo.” He tirelessly cared for her until his last days.
Charles showered us all with his never ending love, humor, wit, infectious laughter, and generosity. He lived his life with purpose, integrity, faith, and kindness. His legacy will forever be etched in our hearts, minds, and souls.
Charles answered his Heavenly call on April 18, 2024. His earthly journey ended after 90 years, 9 months, and 20 days. Charles was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Albert Taylor, Marion Taylor, Otha Taylor, Florence Martin, and Lawrence Taylor; and daughter, Connie Rena Taylor.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Beulah Taylor; daughter, Elizabeth Diane Taylor; granddaughters: Tasha Taylor, Snovia Walker (Eugene), Talisha Pointer (L.P.), Waketta Relford (Sean), Lavinia Jones (Cedric), and Brittany Fleming (Lewis); great-grand children: Damani Coleman, Daionna Watkins, Lewis Fleming, Veronica Walker, Ja’Nya Fleming, Isaiah Jones, Israel Jones, Sanai Relford, Taylor Fleming, Senia Relford, and Lennox Fleming; and great-great grandson, Zion Walker.
