On July 22, 2002, God blessed Charnear Stockdale & Derrick Thomas with a gift that would not only strengthen their faith and the faith of others in him, but would enable so many others to experience life’s greatest joy even in times of great difficulty. This gift was a gift of hope, known to the world as Chakyia “Hope” Thomas.

Despite challenges and obstacles throughout her life, Hope’s determination and perseverance exemplified her trust and confidence rooted in God’s promises, faithfulness, trustworthiness and the certainty of His wonderful plan for her life.

Hope confessed Christ at a young age and served faithfully at The First Union Springs Seventh Day Adventist Church. She enjoyed praising the Lord and giving him the glory.

Hope was educated in the Bullock County School System and was a graduate of the Bullock County High School Class of 2018.

Hope made a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Her life filled with love, affection and kindness. Hope was a ray of sunshine, possessing a smile that would light up any room. She will forever be remembered for her unique way of expressing her feelings through her words and her signature finger gesture. Hope enjoyed listening to music and watching YouTube.

Hope was our gift from God but she belonged to him. On June 25, 2022, God in his infinite wisdom decided that his gift had served its purpose in his divine plan; therefore, he rewarded our gift with the gift of eternal life. Hope transitioned this life to rest in her Lord’s presence.

Hope was preceded in death by her great grandparents: John (Pearline) Harris, Rubennie Johnson, Willie Pearl Kendrick and her aunt, Tracy Thomas.

The love for Hope brought memories that will be cherished a lifetime by her: dedicated and loving mother and bonus father ,who reared her as his own, Charnear and Houston Stockdale Sr.; caring father, Derrick Thomas; brothers : Jaderion Thomas, Houston Stockdale Jr and Trevontae Calhoun; sisters : Cha’kayla Thomas, Tamira Perry, LaDerricka Thomas, Garrion Thomas and Annie Thomas; nephew: Chase Thomas;loving grandparents : Delois (Freddie ) Jones , Lee (Mary) Johnson , Mary H.
