ETHEL M PUCKETT JACKSON

Ethel Mae Puckett Jackson was born on July 27, 1923, in Hardeman County, Tennessee, to the late Amos Puckett and Biddie Williams Puckett. At an early age, Ethel accepted Christ as her Savior and united with Hillfield Baptist Church in Toone, Tennessee. She was married to the late James L. Jackson, Sr.; to their union eight children were born. Ethel moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, in 1951. Ethel was employed at Foster Motor Lodge and Hotels for over 20 years. She united with Antioch Baptist Church over sixty years ago. She later became a member of the Mother’s Auxiliary. Ethel loved to cook fried chicken, fried corn bread, greens, and candied yams. She welcomed any and every one in the neighborhood to join in with a meal. She even enjoyed feeding the animals that would show up every day at her window. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Biddie Puckett, a son, Rojesven Lee Jackson, and two grandsons, Leon Shead, Jr., and Corey Jackson. She leaves to cherish her memory: five daughters, Ivy (Leon) Shead of Denver, CO, Margaret (Rufus) Downey, Barbara Jackson, Connie (Ulus) Toran of Indianapolis, IN, and Biddie Jackson of Memphis, TN; two sons, Amos Jackson (Mavis) of Spring Creek, NV, and James Jackson, Jr., of Indianapolis, IN; two stepdaughters, Mary Jackson of Indianapolis, IN, and Eva (James) Green of Decatur, IN; three stepsons, Jessie Jackson and Franklin Jackson of Indianapolis, IN, and George Jackson of St. Louis, MO; one adopted daughter, Patrica (Al) Watson of Daphne, AL; one adopted grandson, John Bledsoe; a special nephew, Willie Macon of Louisville, KY; a special cousin, Dorothy Bills of Chicago, IL; a host of grandchildren, great-grands, great-greatgrands, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
