Doristeen Green

07/20/1939 - 12/16/2020

Reverend Mother Doristeen Green was born July 20, 1939, to the union of Roosevelt Green, Sr., and Hilda Moore Green in Canton, Mississippi. She received her education at Indianapolis Public School #26 and Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a dutiful employee of 30 years for the Linkbelt Corporation, where she worked as a machine operator until her retirement. She united in Holy matrimony to the late Mr. Joseph Green. They shared 27 years of marriage together until he departed this life. Doristeen traded time for eternity, surrounded by family reading scripture and sharing childhood stories, on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at the age of 81 years. She professed Christ at an early age. Doristeen was a loving and generous mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and surrogate mom who loved to laugh. In addition to being a part of a huge family, she served God and the Indianapolis community. Initially, she faithfully served the LORD under the Pastorate of Reverend Mother Ella Britton, Founder of St. Anthony Temple, and later under the pastorate of Reverend Mother Shirley Dinkins. Reverend Mother Doristeen Green was one of the first appointments by Archbishop Posey when she was named President of The International Women’s Department. She should be remembered and lauded for the first and only International Women’s Convention, which was sponsored by the Third Episcopal Diocese, under the then leadership of His Grace, the Very Reverend William Randall Wesley Ozier, and hosted by The Right Reverend Ronald Kearsey in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Later, Reverend Mother Doristeen Green worked out her soul salvation under the Pastorate of Reverend Mother Rosie Ray (her mentor in the LORD), founding pastor of Christian Center Spiritual Church, now pastored by His Grace, the Very Reverend Bishop James Johnson and Lady Janette Johnson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roosevelt and Hilda; husband, Joseph; sisters, Lucille Stewart, Yvonne, Mattie Lean, Winnie, Clema Jean, and Louise; brothers, Marcellus, Milton, Clarence, and Johnnie Lee; and her cousin whom she raised as a son, Henry “Buck” Bennet. Doristeen leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Cleon “Big Jack” (Marie) Jackson; granddaughter, Sheryl Looper; sisters, Gertrude, Lucille Green, Mallie, Rose (Calvin), Johnnie Mae (Johnny), Rosie Mae (James), and Earnestine; brothers, Roosevelt (Mildred), Earl, Robert (Louise), Eugene (Deborah), and Thomas; the daughter of her heart, Delphine Minor Cook; close friends, James and Janette Johnson; and a host of nieces, grandnieces, nephews, grandnephews, cousins, and friends.
